That’s All Folks

In the summer of 2013 Bada was the victim of an accident while riding her bicycle. The quantifiable results were two days in hospital, a fractured face, a fractured radius bone and half an hour of memory loss. The work was inspired by the fragility of the human body and life. She documented the process of healing, by taking a selfie a day of her face with her phone for 2 weeks. These pictures were reassuring to her, because after a fashion they were proof of Bada’s vitality. In the piece, however she is presenting the opposite. Bada projected the selfies she made on to a white balloon filled with helium, then took photographs of the balloon. As a result a strange, surreal and slightly scary photo series was created, where the viewer can follow her path of recovery, and still see the frail and transient nature of a human life.
